Meet Randy

Small business owner. Caring family man. Committed community volunteer.

Born and raised in Barrie, Ontario, Randy moved to the Nickel Belt in 2016, first settling in the French River and later making his home in Hanmer. He is the father of a blended family with three adult children and is proud to be marrying the love of his life this fall.

Randy owns and operates Randy’s Mobile Marine Service, a local business that brings onsite boat maintenance and repair directly to clients.  As a business owner, he appreciates how the PC Party of Ontario supports small businesses in the north by reducing the gas tax, removing license plate renewal fees and cutting red tape. Government investments in Northern Ontario’s mining and resource sectors make life more affordable for Canadians.

Randy served a four-year term as a councillor in the French River. In his first year, he identified the need for a community ice rink in the Town of Alban and championed its creation. Members of the public provided donations and other support needed to produce the perimeter boards, while dedicated volunteers helped build and operate the rink with little impact on the municipal budget.

Randy’s commitment to community extends beyond business and politics. His involvement with the Lions Club of Ontario has been especially rewarding and impactful, allowing him to lead fundraising and environmental projects. A three-year tree seedling project he initiated, which had Club volunteers sell seedlings for planting, raised funds to support other community projects. And everyday people planted thousands of seedlings.

In 2024, Randy was elected to the Northern Ontario Lion’s Club board, serving as zone chair of the six clubs in the Nickel Belt. His involvement with the Lions has provided another opportunity to give back to people in need in the region. So has his time on other boards and committees, including:

  • The Sudbury and District Board of Health
  • The Association of Municipalities / Northern caucus
  • French River executive and finance committees
  • French River environmental committee

Randy first ran to represent the Ontario PCs in 2002, one of five challengers to an entrenched incumbent. He knocked on thousands of Nickel Belt doors during 17 months of campaigning, finishing second with more votes than the other four challengers combined. The experience left him well prepared for the race – a four-week sprint, really – that lies ahead.

His dedication to improving the quality of life for his fellow residents is unwavering and he continues to seek new ways to make a positive impact. Randy’s leadership and vision have earned him the respect and admiration of his peers, and he remains a steadfast advocate for the people of Nickel Belt.

On February 27, please get out and vote.
